Privacy Policy for Stuff Maps - Home Inventory

Effective Date: April 24, 2026

Introduction and Data Controller

This Privacy Policy explains what information Stuff Maps - Home Inventory handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. Stuff Maps - Home Inventory is developed by an independent developer operating as JtnrDev ("we", "us", "the developer").

Stuff Maps - Home Inventory is a serverless application. We do not operate any server infrastructure to collect, store, or process your inventory data. There is no database owned or operated by us that your inventory, photos, or item lists pass through. All your data is stored locally on your device, and any cloud backups are stored directly within your personal Google Drive account, under your Google account's own storage and security controls. We do not have login credentials to your Google Drive, we do not host a copy of your data anywhere, and we have no technical means to open, view, download, or analyze it — the only information that ever reaches us is what you choose to send us directly, such as an email if you contact support. You remain the sole data controller of your inventory information.

1. Information We Collect and Use

Stuff Maps - Home Inventory prioritizes local storage and user control. Information is collected only to enable core inventory functions and the optional Google Drive backup service.

A. Personal Data (Google Sign-In & Drive Integration)

When you sign in with Google to enable the Drive Backup feature, the app requests access to:

None of these permissions give the app, or us, access to your wider Google Drive, other Google services, or any information beyond what is listed above. We do not receive or store your Google password or Drive login credentials at any point.

B. User-Generated Inventory Data

None of the data in this section is transmitted to us, sold, or shared with advertisers, since we never receive it in the first place.

C. Camera and Storage Permissions

Stuff Maps - Home Inventory requests camera access strictly to scan QR codes and photo/storage access to attach photos to your items and/or locations. This data is processed locally on-device and is never uploaded to us or to any third-party server, except as part of your own optional Drive backup described below.

D. Information We Do Not Collect

Stuff Maps - Home Inventory does not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting tools, or advertising SDKs of any kind. We do not collect device identifiers, usage statistics, or behavioral data, and we do not display ads.

2. Cloud Backup

If enabled, a copy of your local inventory data is saved directly from your device into your own personal Google Drive account as a single .smbckp file, as described in Section 1A above.

Stuff Maps - Home Inventory does not access, view, or manage this backup data, other than to facilitate the backup, restore, and delete operations you initiate.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not share your inventory data with any third party, because we never possess it. The only third-party service involved is Google (Google Sign-In and Google Drive API), which acts as your own cloud storage provider and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Security

Local data is protected by your Android device's own security (lock screen, encryption at rest, app sandboxing). Backup data is protected by your Google account's own security, including any two-factor authentication you have enabled. Because we do not operate servers that store your data, there is no central database of Stuff Maps - Home Inventory user data that could be breached on our end.

5. Data Retention

Local data is retained on your device for as long as you keep the app installed and until you delete it yourself. Backup data is retained in your Google Drive until you delete it via the app or directly through Google Drive. If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry.

6. Your Data Deletion Options

You are in full control of your data at all times. To delete it:

  1. Remove Cloud Backup: Go to Menu > Backup Data, tap the three-dot menu, and select either "Delete Backup Data" or "Delete Backup Data and Disconnect from Google Drive."
  2. Clear Local Data: Go to Settings > Apps > Stuff Maps > Storage & cache > Clear Data, or simply uninstall the app.

Since your data is not held on any server we control, deleting it locally and/or from your Drive removes it completely — there is no separate copy for us to delete on our end.

7. Children's Privacy

Stuff Maps - Home Inventory is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we have no servers to collect data on in the first place, this risk is further limited to information you may choose to enter locally on your own device, or to your own Google Drive account if you turn on the optional backup feature.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights including the right to:

Because we hold no server-side copy of your inventory data, most of these rights are already exercised directly by you on your device or in your Google Drive, without needing to contact us. For anything else, reach out using the contact details below.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes to the app or legal requirements. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted on this page, and we encourage you to review it periodically. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be noted with an updated Effective Date above.
